Creating a centralised network of shops isn’t a straightforward implementation. That requires a lot of customisation and the result is not always what the shop owner expected. Eventually, this goes into a maintenance nightmare, where the administrator allocates disproportionally more time to upkeep the systems rather than monetize.
The WP Multi Domain plugin for WooCommerce, makes the process incredibly easier and accessible to everyone. Selling the products over multiple domains is a breeze. The WooCommerce products list is available to multiple shops, while perfectly controlling individual product visibility, prices etc for each of the domains. Just add more domains and you are ready to go.
Under a MultiSite environment, a WooCommerce shop is natively supported to run as a distinct site/shop. But that comes with some important limitations:
- There is no centralised data for Orders
- Each of the shops hold it’s distinct list of products, regardless the items being the very same
- No global functionality for cart, check-out, users etc.
The other plugin that our company developed WP Global Cart provides all the missing features when run MultiSite which is the best tool for such environment.
But not everyone runs under MultiSite or not willing to switch to such a WordPress type. Generally, a regular/default WordPress is easier to manage than MultiSite as there are fewer settings to control and adjust. For that reason, many shop owners create separate shops on regular WordPress instances. But that comes with a cost, it takes a lot of time to import products and manage the items for each of the site.
Now, our WP Multi Domain plugin comes into the scene, as an excellent tool. Using a single WordPress instance creates unlimited shops with different domains. That means a huge difference in terms of management, as everything goes on a single place rater different shops. There is a unique product list manageable for each of the domains, by setting visibility, price, category etc. No more product importing and synchronisation for all shops/domains, this now runs in a single place for all. All that comes also with a global orders section, check-out area, cart, users functionality etc.
There is no limitation when it comes to domain customisation. Each can use its own Theme ( or use the same template ), Widgets and Menus etc. Plugins can also use different setup/options for each of the domains, this is mainly achieved through a programmable filter. The WooCommerce is also configurable independently, for each of the domains, as default.
